Hello, This will be my first big show Hamburg PA. Usually I go to smaller shows and I do not have alot of reptiles. Well this time I will have quite a few so need advice on how to put them in deli cups and mark everyone quickly. I could do the labels first but until I get closer to leaving for the show, I am not sure who all I am bringing. So I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me to make this task easier? I decided since I have older Juvies to buy bigger cups at Walmart And the white labels. I hope this will make it easier to see the geckos since am turning the cup on its top(which is blue). Has anyone ever tried this and if so how did it work for you? I will use some aspen shavings in case of accidents so that will add a light color to the top so either way it should work out OK But I get nervous using new stuff. Thanks and if there is any other tips you want to pass along, I am all ears!!! Thanks so much, Deb PS show is tomorrow so I need any info right away!

I haven't done any shows, not sure I ever want to.... but here's and idea. Use a label maker and use tape to hold the labels on your tubs. Fold under the tape at one end so it makes it easy to take off, and don't pull off the backing for the label. This is how I have my tubs marked, so when a gecko sells or is moved to a larger tub, I just move the label. Even if you don't take all of them, at least you'll have them done, and are ahead of yourself when it comes time for labels on the ones you don't take.

Thanks Felicia, That helps, great idea even for just at home in my racks. I move geckos alot here because at first I keep 6 geckos as hatclings together and as they grow I seperate them to size appropiate, then they are either kept single or with its clutchmate then they go into a small colony if I have one or put with a male when breedable. I am also going to go into each Rack and put the sticker on the drawer with that gecko in it for now and get the deli cups ready and then right before leaving. I will put them in. usually I just have no more than 10 geckos and many dragons, this time its the other way around and I could have up to 70 geckos( not sure yet how many I am letting go) I am going to try and sex some and keep some females. Thanks again, Deb

I would just buy larger sized Deli Cups, they're easier to see through. They make the cups in very small to very large sizes and they're not expensive at all. They are also very inexpensive. I bought 100 of them w/ the tops for 8.50 shipped.

I got mine on ebay. But I'm sure there's plenty of places to get them from. The only problem I had with deli cups was the show I went to had hot lights above us and it was raining so I had to buy bedding to lower the humidity once I got to the show because you couldn't even see through the lids, but it turned out that everyone ended up complimenting me on the "Decorative" look haha.

WOW! I just did some searching over google to see what deli cups ran and I just realized I probably should have bought a couple thousand at that price. Reptile depot is selling lids for more than I paid for the cup AND lid. Still not terrible if you don't need a ton, but it'd get expensive if you bought 100. I'm glad I've still got some cups left. I guess I'll cherish those haha.

Yeah I bought 1000 a year ago and now have about 200 left so I'm starting to look around now. So far all the prices I have found are crazy but it looks like I'mgoing to have to put the money into them because can't live without them.

yeah thats what I'm saying. I feed my 3 corns and baby kings in deli cups and have enough to where if I ship something I'll be ok for a couple of shipments. but after that I'm going to have to do some heavy searching.

sacredcreatures- I've only done one show so I am not an expert by any means but do have a couple of tips (sorry if you know all these already)-
Deli cups- I get small quantities (under 50) from my local grocery store. Make sure have holes in them.
Paper Towel- I used PT in the bottom of the deli cups and it worked great. I did a little tiny spray just to add a bit of moisture.
Dots- I mark all animals going to the show with a bright orange/yellow dot (they come 20 or so to a sheet at office max) the day before to save time the morning of the show.
Spray bottle & paper towel- take one with you to clean the tops of the cups and cups. I'm sure your animals are impressive. Why ruin the display with fingerprints on tops of cups.
Duct Tape, rubber bands, extra electric cords.... just in case.
Animals- Don't feed your animals the day before. It could help in limiting the poop in the cups.

Also- good luck at the show and let us know how it goes and how you do.
