Hello everyone,

What would a pairing of SHTCB het Tremper x Mack Snow possibly produce?

- 1/2 Mack Snow with varying degrees of Hypo, Tangerine and Carrot Tail 50% het Tremper
- 1/2 Normal with varying degrees of Hypo, Tangerine and Carrot Tail 50% het Tremper

Is this correct?

Just remember that "1/2" and "50%" imply probabilities, not guarantees. As for what, the genetics calculator can tell you the genetic probabilities. Anything linebred (not genetic, just bred over time to look that way) will likely have a reduced or non-existant effect when crossed with another Leo that isn't of that "line-breeding" ..

So the offspring will exhibit very few Hypo trait or no Hypo at all? Because I was told that such traits were polygenic, so it could show no Hypo, some Hypo or even (rarely) be nearly super Hypo. That's not true?

According to the calculator, a hypo parent (having 1 dominant hypo gene) will produce hatchling with 50% probably of receiving that dominant gene. a parent with 2 dominant hypo will produce ONLY hypo hatchlings. This is because the hatchling has a 50% chance of receiving each gene a parent may have....but it BOTH of the parent's (either mom OR dad) genes are DOMINANT hypo, then the hatchling is guaranteed that the gene it received is gonna be Dominant...kinda rigging the election. But I don't know that you can visually tell if a parent is single-dominant or double-dominant.

One example of a line-bred polygenic trait would be the carrot tail.. That's an unknown area for me, but you can expect "less appearance" if not bred with another carrot tail.

Play with the calculator for the genetic probabilities if you want to understand them.
