Hey guys,

I haven't been on the boards in years. i wish it was under better circumstances!

2 weeks ago, my 6-year-old SHTCT dropped her fat, healthy tail. I am completely devastated. I know it's just a cosmetic thing, and she will grow it back and will be able to store fat and nutrients in it again, but I just can't help but feel guilty and sad...after all, her tail was my favorite part of her.

It happened when I went to go mist her moist hide because she was shedding. I picked up her warm hide to move her out of the way, but ended up accidentally hitting my arm against the tank and I dropped the hide on her. Her tail tore and it was wiggling around attached for a while. I actually thought she may keep it, but I checked on her an hour later and it was completely detached at the very base.

I didn't take any pictures because I was just so shocked and devastated I didn't want to document the experience. So far, it's just all dried up and nothing has started growing yet (She's always on paper towels, i'm feeding her more often and dusting all prey items).

Anyway...I guess my question is a stupid one. I know I should probably just be waiting until it grows back, but I wanted to see if anyone here has had any experience with a carrot tail regrowth.

If you have, can you post pictures of the before and after? I'm mainly wondering if she will grow back her beautiful orange color. I know it's a shot in the dark which is why I'm wondering if anyone has before and afters.

Here's a picture of her when she was very young.

I'm sorry to hear about your dropped tail )= since this is an older post I'm sure you've got some sort of a hold on the situation by now but in-case you haven't:

About a year about my new gecko dropped her tail ( I think she got stuck between her hide and the tank and panicked, R.I.P tail ) and unfortunately I did not take any pictures. However maybe I can describe it to you. When mine decided to drop its tail she was still a baby, when the tail grew back it looked similar to a pencil cap eraser. Since yours seems to be larger you can pretty much predict that its going to look similar to a stereotypical Christmas decoration light. Keep in mind that it probably will also not be the same color as the original ( could be lighter or darker ) and have different patterns of spots on it.

I hope everything turns out well (=
