Hey everybody a quick question. Do your geckos stay out in plain day or do they go under there hides? I have two young ones and they stay in the hides alot i am hoping they will grow out of that by holding them alot and them getting older. Tell me what your leo's do and how long it took them too finally stay outside of there hides.

We have several that hang out in their hides all day. Others will come to the front of their tubs to wave hello and come out to play.

My first gecko Les was kind of shy the first while, but once he got used to me and his daily patterns, he comes out more at night and even sleeps in the open with me in the room. My newest gecko Lizzy is taking her time working through her shyness, but I'm confident it'll wear off. Just try to have a soft voice, maybe approach from the sideinstead of overhead when handling, and if they're squirming when you try to handle them let them be, at least in my experience.

Well my two boys used to hide all the time and only come out when I wasn't anywhere near the tank. It took them about two months to get used to me. Now Dante sleeps outside his hides most of the time and will come over and stare at me if I'm near the tank. My other male Mikko likes to hide but if he hears me doing anything in his tank he comes out and starts climbing up my arm. My newest gecko still hides and is shy when I come near but does like to explore, but she is a baby & I've only had her for a week.

I have 4 breeding groups of Leo's and 3 hatchlings. 2 of my breeding groups like to stay right out in the open. They do go into their hide boxes on occasion, but are more likely to be out than hiding. The third group has 2 that like to be out in the open, and 1 that is always hiding. The 4th group looks like an empty tank all the time as they are never out.
