If you don't already know i've been trying to nurse back a baby leo i got from petco. At the time i thought if i just got it out of the bad conditions it was in it would be ok, however easier said than done. All it has been eating is small crickets but i thought id try a mealworm, so it ate it and then i fed it more, being VERY skinny and underweight with a skinny tail i wanted to fatten it up so it ate about 7 that night. It hasn't gone to the bathroom since and you can see its underside is big and bulges in some spots. I dont think it is ok and im not sure what to do for it now, can they eat too much, is this what happened? It also hasnt eaten anything since that night. Is there anything i can do?

Here are a few suggestions:

Up the warm side substrate temps to 92/93
Give him a warm soak in 90* water and massage his belly
Give him a drop of mineral oil to hopefully get things moving
Take the next poop in to the vet for a fecal to check for parasites.

That is the warm side temp, 92 but i didnt try the other things yet. Im almost certain he has parasites considering in over a month he hasnt gained any weight or size and his tail looks smaller. i wish i had a vet close to me that dealt with leos, ill have to search for one.

i will try to give him a warm water soak, its what i did when i first got him when he was having trouble shedding. Is it possible that he hasnt gone to the bathroom because he ate so much at one time and mealworms maybe take longer to digest than crickets??

I took some pictures today and as you can see the tail is not fat at all and these pictures make him look even bigger than she really is. Her color has changed, but thats about it.

Again, this pic makes her look a lot better.

And this one is from a month ago. As you can see nothing has really changed.

And this was from the first week i got her, right after Christmas.

Other than color nothing has really changed in two months, if anything she looked better when i first got her. I assume that it must be parasites. I know he eats and i know he goes to the bathroom and he has shed several times now but shouldn't he be twice as big by now??

well at least s/he is eating. so if she still isnt gaining weight it may just be parasites. and has s/he pooped? becuase in those pictures she doesnt seem bloated at all. Me me anyway.

Awesome looking gecko otherwise! hope it pulls through.
