hi there, me and my girlfriend have just adopted a sick leopard gecko. she is an albino with beautiful round pupils ( is this rare ? i have heard it is)
she was rescued from a tank with a big fat tail gecko in it who has been eating all her food and taken a bite out of her back leg.
i have been treating the wound with tamodine once a night and it seems to be working good. all her toes are not good. the *$^%ing last owner did not check her after sheds and she had layers and layers on her toes, i have got it all off with shed aid but i think a few toes are going to drop off.
she is thin and will not eat. i have got her to drink some pro balance reptile conditioner (probiotic, enzyme, electrolyte, vitamin and mineral substance) and giving her liquid calcium too. she doesnt move much and eyes are closed much of the time. i think she has a good chance of eventualy getting back to full health but any advice you can give me on getting her to eat again would be fantastic. thanks in advance. jon

The slurry is an absolute wonder. I had a VERY sick little girl ( jungle albino)and the slurry helped her out tons. Our little girl hated any sort of light when we got her. She had been kept in a dark room in a small conatiner and did not get the proper day/night cycle. I would also suggest getting a fecal done to make sure there are no parasites at work also. Best of luck with your little one. I hope she recovers soon.

You have too resize the pics is all. When you browes though your pics, double click it and you will have anouther window open. You will then just have to click image and resize.

Poor baby! She actually doesn't look too dangerously thin, although she will definitely lose those toes.

hais that black mark on her leg? Is it a sore or necrotic tissue?

Make sure all her environmental needs are met, temps are good, and she has a humid hide... and hopefully she wuill start eating for you soon!

hi there, the mark on her leg is where the fat tail gecko bit her, i have been treating it with tamodine and it is working well. it was a lot bigger when we first got her. i got her to drink some of the reptile conditioner stuff tonight then gave her a good long soak in a bowl of luke warm water, she perked up a bit and even went for a little run about in the tank, going to try the slurry over the weekend and see what happens. thanks for the help!

She might start eating on her own for you now. Sometimes when leopards are stressed or just getting settled into a new home they won't eat. Its good to hear she is moving around and healing good.

thanks, i have put some cricket and wax worms in the tank, she didnt eat any last night so i'll leave them there and check when i get back from work.
Makes me so angry her last owner let her get like this. dont people realise that all animals require the same amount of love and care weather dog, cat, gecko or snake? maybe there should be an IQ test before you can buy one...

sorry to go off on one, just upsets me when i see her leg and feet.

I agree with you 100% about the IQ test. I have a couple that I have aquired from people that I felt the same way about. Hope your little one is starting to improve some.

Thanks Ruby, had a great night last night. i did my usual stuff, giving her some reptile solution with an eye dropper, cleaning her wound and such. then i dangled a cricket in front of her and she ate it!!!!!! just one and i couldnt persuade her to eat any more but its a great start. very happy:main_laugh:

That is great news. I hope that she continues to improve. She will be a beauty when she is back to healthy. Best wishes.

Doh, she has stopped eating again! FRUSTRATING !!!!! she keeps having the solution and the calcium but has no interest in crickets or wax worms. I guess i'll just keep trying for a few days and try the slurry if not.
