Okay so I wanted to add some bamboo perches in my crested enclosure.. Do you have to buy special non-toxic caulk to use in order to attach the mounts? My dad said he once had to go to an aqaurium store and buy this non-toxic aqaurium caulk... I have GE Silicone II 100% Silicone caulk and now I am worried that its not safe for them???? Anyone used plain old caulk in the past?? I am letting it cure for the full 24 hours.....

when i built my cage i used some caulk i got at home depot. i asked for the pet safe stuff and the tube said it was 100 percent silicone so i found another brand that didnt clame "pet safe" but was 100 percent silicone so it was the same thing, it was for bathroom stuff and way cheaper. i asked at the pet store the next day and they said it was fine after cured for the 24 hours. make sure you dont breath in the fumes while its curing!!!! where a mask while putting it on, im not kidding this stuff is really bad!!
but to answer the question, your caulk should be fine lol

i was putting it inside my cage without a mask and since i had to do alot cause my cage is big, i started choking and my eyes were watering, i had to get a mask asap!

Thanks!! That is good news... now the bad news...

I already did it without a mask... and in my room with all my geckos.. it was only about 5 minutes and the fumes werent bad... I could barely smell it. I am fine I just hope they will be!!! I didnt know this stuff was so harmful just to be in the air!!!

went it dries it releases chemicals, some that smell and some that dont, which are really bad for people and im assuming gecko as well, i did it in my room and after i started feeling sick i opened the window and put a fan blowing out and moved the geckos in another room for the day, then i read about it and found out thats its bad for you to breathe and after chocking on the stuff i understand but if you didnt use a lot it might not smell so bad, i used an entire caulking tube to seal my cage and was in the cage trying to spead it smooth for about a half hour. and since you didnt do that much and if the geckos werent close they should be fine im assuming

thats the msds sheet for the product you used

from the sheet it seems like if there isnt a problem once it is cured than you should be fine, it is only dangerous while drying... so im guessing as long as your geckos are fine still and acting normal than they are fine but im not an expert, just what im assuming
