Silkworm success!!

I just thought I'd let anyone who is having a problem with their new gecko eating know about my experience. I bought a new gecko almost a month ago and she wouldn't touch mealworns or crickets and was losing weight while starting to lay eggs this week. I tried a large silkworm out of pure luck they had them at a local shop and she devoured it...and then another! I'm very happy and she seems to have a full belly. It's worth a try if you can find them. Cheers!

Silkworm is last resort, although from reading the other post it sounded needed.

Why do you say last resort? They are more nutritious than mealworms or crickets having a higher protein content and lower fat content. I read they are an excellent food item. Can anyone dispute this?

I always thought they were pretty nutrtious.. thats all i fed my chameleons when i was in hawaii..

But thats the only place if found silk worms... none here in ohio

I think silkworms are good for your pet, just expensive to maintain if you don't have access to fresh mulberry leaves (and LOTS of them).
