Hey guys

Can I feed my Leopard Gecko's silkworms as their staple diet? Or is it too fatty for them? I will feed them crickets as well, but I would like it to be mainly silkworms. Any advice would be great though

Thanks :main_thumbsup:

Yes, you can. Silkworms are not fatty, they are low in fat, actually. It is a great feeder. Suplementation with calcium powder (with or without vits) is necessary as well.

Do remember that, sometimes, it is dificult to get them, at least to me (Portugal).

A diversity of feeders is always better. ;)

Portugal! Must be nice to live there... I am Portuguese but live in South Africa, sadly I can not speak the language (wish I could)

Silkworms are not so difficult to get here though, but they are still more expensive than other food choices. As you said, I shall diverse my choices :main_yes:

I once got a bunch of silkworm eggs and started breeding them for my geckos; the breeding is not difficult as long as you have a source for food. However, my geckos absolutely hate the silk that is attached to the silkworm, and not many of them liked the silkworm.
