silly crestie moment...

Only a crestie lover would appreciate this.

I bought crickets this week. We keep them in an 8 inch round tupperware container. I open the doors to Ferrous' cage & proceed to chace the larger crickets around the tub to toss them in his cage. Sadly, I can't catch them.

Ferrous had been watching me from high atop his planted waterfall structure. Next thing you know...BONSAI!!!! Ferrous take a flying leap across the cage landing perfectly in the middle of the cricket container, snags a cricket, downs it & snags another. Looking mighty proud, he leaps out onto a vine to have his after dinner smoke.

I love our leos to death, but Ferrous provides more amusement than they ever will.

hahahaha! Ferrous just thought those were for him! I know what you mean about providing amusement compared to leos. I love them both but these little guys are so fun to watch.

man! I gotta get me one real soon, when i have enough money saved up. right now i am saving for exo terra terrarium, i plan on getting 18 by 18 inches. hopefully it is big enough for two leopard geckos...

a tip on making it easier to get the crickets. if the tub is big, and if you have a toilet paper tube or paper towel tube in the tub at all times and have one end closed, it is easier to get the crickets that way and all you have to do is pick up the toliet paper roll or whatever and shake it out into whatever you use to dust the crickets... I have rusty red roaches, i would take a egg crate and shake them over an empty superworm container and put lid on it and shake it to get the cal dust on them and dump them into the tank. Now if i had crickets, i used toliet paper tube and have one end closed and shake them into empty babyfood jar and dusted them that way. :)

I know a lot of details. My mom would say that i don't need to over explain things to death. but that is me. :)

I wouldn't recommend the 18x18 for 2 leos. They'd be happier in a 20 long. The 18x18 is good for 1 crestie though. I always recommend Freecycle.org for finding free tanks.

I was after the larger crickets in the tub which is why it was taking me so long to catch them. Thanks for the tips though.

eeek! i already ordered the 18" by 18" by 18" zoo-med terrarium. Maybe I can be creative and fix it in a way so there is more "floor" space for them. Mine does like to climb on top of the sandwich container that i use as a humid hide with slate tiles on top of it and a rock which created a bridge and whatnot..

they are not full grown yet... they are about 5 to 6 months old.

i was thinking that when i get a crestie, that i would get one of them fresh air habitat, i could get more space for less price... i thought about getting one of them for the leos but i wasn't sure it would be good for them or not??? since they need more heat than the crestie does...

Nope, no good for the leos. I recommend that when you do get the crestie that you move your 2 young leos into a larger home with more floor area. One crestie is more than happy in the 18x18x18...gives you reason to start looking for a crestie...not that you need anyone pushing you, lol.
