i don't see why there would be any problem with putting it on the hot side since the hot side is not going to be much more than 100F at the most extreme. about the same as a human with a fever, and not anything that's going to melt baked flour 'clay' that's been sprayed with sealers, etc.

looks like a great idea for naturalistic hides!

I see what your saying. I just thought that if it was on the colder side that you wouldnt have to worry as much. But the main reason I said that was because I painted my hides and the paint gets a little sticky under the heat (I use a heat lamp also) and I got a little paranoid that my geckos would lick it....even though it is supposed to be non-toxic paint.
