Skin irritation

Hi I am new to crested geckos and recently acquired a large juvenile. I was so happy it let me hold it (for the first time) two days ago. One problem, my skin became irritated in the places its feet come in contact with my skin. I just wanted to know if this is normal or just my sensitive skin.

I empathize with you. I too have this condition. It became enough of an irritant that I gave up my collection. I found no relief from it via creams or lotion. I did get some relief from oral benadryll but it was more of a nuiscance than I liked.

Ryan and I both have the same problem. We ended up selling all of ours because it was a little annoying to deal with.

Katie has the same problem as well. We are selling all of our cresties except one red patternless girl, simply because she's gorgeous and she's Katie's favorite (dispite breaking out every time she holds her).

What about gloves

I was thinking about getting garden Gloves. Do you think they would stress them out?

Was it the acid in your skin that caused the problem?

What if a cresties skin is sticky?

that's so weird! im so surprised that this could happen. i assume you wash your hands immediately after handling, and it still is irritated? i'm sorry, what a bummer.

you could try non-powdered latex gloves (make sure you're not allergic to those too). I don't know much about cresties but for frogs and other amphibians they reccommend using these gloves and wetting them, as to not damage the frogs mucous membranes, the wetting may not be necessary but if you got some medical grade gloves it would at least protect your skin. and they arent as bulky as some other gloves so you would still maintain your dexterity and sensitivity in your fingers. i doubt the little guy will even notice
hope i helped
