Skittish Behavior

I just picked up a second leo from my friend Pat over at Cali Coils and she is really freaked out by everything. I had a difficult time getting her into the tank that I used to introduce my 2 geckos. Then she vigorously kept clawing the glass as my other gecko investigated her (very calmly I might add). Then getting her from that tank to the actual home tank was a pain too because she kept scurrying away at all costs.

I'm trying not to get too near her when I handle my other gecko. But every time I go near the tank, she wiggles back into the hide like the apocalypse is coming. Lol.

Is there a good way to help rid this type of behavior and get her to warm up to me any quicker than just letting her investigate my hand from time to time?

She is still pretty young so I'm hoping she will start to settle down when her new habitat becomes familiar to her.

If you just picked her up you should have just left her alone in her new home for a few days. She's most likely stressed from everything that is happening. She went from one home to another one where she's being touched and introduced to another gecko she's probably freaking out. They need time to warm up and settle in but every gecko is different, some warm up faster than others. Some don't fight much the first time and others aren't comfortable.

Are you keeping her with another gecko without quarantining her?

I figured it might be from all the stress.

They do currently share a habitat. The only reason I did that is because I only have one UTH. I would gladly put her in the smaller tank but she would have no way of keeping warm. I certainly want her to be warm.

They get along pretty well though.

Its a good idea to quarantine reptiles before introducing them, you never know what one might have and give the other. Reptiles dont usually show their symptoms right away either so even if one looks healthy you never know.

Hmm. That makes sense.

I personally know the guy who gave me both of my geckos. They were both housed under the same conditions and both shared homes with other geckos before I got them. Isn't it possible that the new gecko is already used to sharing space with another gecko?

What sort(s) of potentially malicious bacteria or sickness would they be carrying though?
