I also decided to start using Eco Earth inside the humid hide. She seems to like it.

As far as the slate goes, they are 6x6 tiles and since its an ExO TeRRA medium/low terrarium the bottom rows had to be cut .5" and also the rows on the right, and the bottom right corner tile had to be cut .5" on the bottom and also on the right.

(I should have put this in the show off your cage thread, my bad)

I just switched to tile about 2 weeks ago, I am really liking it. It seems a lot less maintenance. I just have 3 leos and it seemed like it took forever with my nightly cleaning routine, I can only imagine those who have up in the double a some in the triple digits!

Looks great! I actually did slate today as well but a little different style...

My girlfriend and I saw that same exact slate at home depot, we were considering something like that but I just personally liked the ones I picked up. Yours looks good too though :)

Yeah I am loving it, i did decide to put the sand in underneath and its heating nicely, just having problems with my thermostat which I believe is faulty so I am going to save up for a different one.

If you take it back they might let you exchange it.

Thanks! I was going to do the 6x6 and then saw the small squares ones that go in the bathroom. Well I looked through and they were all broken so I decided to use the rectangular ones and it worked out pretty good. He seems to like and its not as smelly as what I had before! Yours looks really good though! Every pic I've seen with slate looks fantastic!

I like the look of slate too. The only thing I was worried about is that leos like to dig, so I switched from moss to Eco Earth in my humid hides so they can have something to dig in.

Yeah I called Zilla and they said they can replace it only if I send in the one I have now first. And since it still works, it's just that the temps are way off from what I am reading to what I have the thermostat set at. If I set it to 93 it will read well over 100+ in some spots.. If I have it set to 82 I read anywhere from 90-93 at different parts of the hot side. so I will just keep using the faulty one until I have money for a herpstat.

I don't have very much experience with thermostats, I personally just use a dimmer switch. you may try to even out the sand under the slate to see if there are any air bubbles, if that doesn't help you may have a bad UTH, what brand is it?

I've got the Zoomed, I am beginning to believe it is just the UTH because it is certainly reading inconsistently around where it is placed, it reads one thing here, and another thing an inch away so I might have to replace it and see what I find out.

I have zoomed UTH and have had really good luck, but there are bound to be a bad one here and there. You might want to check Amazon, they will have good deals on UTH and thermostats, that is where I get my stuff from.
