Slate temperature

I bought some slate tiles to use as a substrate, currently using ground walnut but I've heard that's no good (ingestion)

For those who use slate tile also

1. What temperature is yours at?
2. How long did it take for the slate to warm to that temp?

Thanks!

I use slate tiles, I recently switched from sand to eco earth coco fiber under the tiles to try to even them out, but the eco earth isn't a very good conductor, I plan on finding another substrate to place under the tiles that will conduct heat better(excluding sand)I never timed it to see how long it takes to get to 95 degrees, but I will tonight when I get home from work. I'll update later.

It is a good buffer, I like the coco fiber and no way of ever getting impacted. I still get the right temps.

I use a slate tile in 1/2 the tank (the side where the UTH is located) I just put a couple of paper towels underneath the tile. It takes about 45 min. for the tile to heat up to 90, which is where I try to keep the warm side.
