We have a snake who wont eat anything right now, he seems absolutely too SMALL to eat anything, and thats the problem. The snake is too small and deathly afraid of any live prey, so even just born pinkies wont work with him, and he wont eat frozen either right now. He is not a hatchling, the snake has to be at least a few months old, but probably very malnourished, so, on some advice form several sites about things other than pinkie pumps, and recipes other than pure mashed pinkie, we've come up with a temporary fix for the poor thing. It works for us, hes alive, doing well enough, and starting to grow better, so maybe it would work for you if you have a reluctant feeder.
Snake Mush:
(2) 2.5oz jars of Meat Baby Food (We use 1 Beef in gravy and 1 Turkey in gravy)
6 defrosted pinkies
Some of Zilla Food Spray Calcium Supplement(in pure liquid form)
4 or so squirts of Pet Authority Leapin' Lizards: Electrolytes w/ Vitamins & Minerals
A bit of water to dilute it
Take all this, blend it up really good in a food processor, it should come out as a liquid, even without water, but the recipe is kind of heavy to be given directly to the snake without a bit of water in it to dilute it. We manage to 3/4 fill a 1 pound deli cup with it when we make it. Now you could downsize the recipe for a smaller outcome or change it in any way, but this is what worked for us and we froze what we didnt use for use on a later day.
To give this to the snake we used a syringe with the end of an eye dropper cut off and placed on the nipple of the tube. A guide on how to make your own syringe of this kind and how to administer the food liek this can be found here:
