Hii :)
Im planning on getting a leo in a week or two and would just like to clear up somethings.

I need- http://www.petsparade.co.uk/reptiles/supplements-cricket-foods/?p=2689 - is that a kind of multi vitamin? How many times a week for a juvenile gecko? How many times for an adult?

I need- http://www.petsparade.co.uk/reptiles/supplements-cricket-foods/?p=2765 - to put directly onto crickets, twice a week for a juvenile and every 7-10 days for an adult?

Then do i also need something like - http://www.petsparade.co.uk/reptiles/supplements-cricket-foods/?p=2763 - to put in a small dish?

Ive tried to do as much research as i can but i just feel as though im going in circles.

Any help appreciated, the more web sites i look at the more confused i gett.

:)

Alright, first off, stick to this forum and you will find everything you need from the people that know the best.

Ok, whatever products you want to use are fine just make sure that there is always a dish of PURE (no vitamin/D3) calcium in the tank. Dust crickets or other feeders in calcium also. Once a week dust them in calcium+D3. Once a week dust them in multi-vitamin. The only real difference for adults is that you only feed them maybe 3 times a week so it would be more like once a week for each of the 3 products. Hope that helps.

Yeah!

Something simple and straight forward for leo owners!!!

MAKE THIS STICKY!

I've been heavy into researching how to feed leo's lately as I'm a new owner and this is the best advice I've seen!! There's a lot of information out there on schedules, products and methods for supplementing but this is all you REALLY need to know.

Cheers...

Also.. ICB isn't that good of a multivitamin. I would recommend either RepCal Herptivite or Vionate.

May I ask if the multivitamin used contains D3 why one would need a separate Calcium with D3 too?
Would not the D3 in the multivitamin be sufficient ?
I have all of the above vitamins but I am wondering if the double dosage of D3 is necessary or even harmful at all
just curious.....

and as always
Thanks for any replies

I think for the Rep-Cal product to be complete with D3 and vitamins, you need to mix Herptivite and the D3 product. I may be wrong here.

We generally only use Rep-cal with dragons and cresties. For leos, we use vionate for the first year of life and for gravid females. We use Osteoform for all animals over one year and for breeder males. These animals get vionate once a week.

This being said, we may be switching to Osteoform 24/7 in a dish and just supplement vionate once a week for all animals. I've talked to a few very successfull high end breeders who only use osteoform... that's it.

I supplement with Rep-Cal products. I use calcium w/out VitD in the mealworms bowls at all times, and dust crickets weekly with calcium w/VitD and Herptivite weekly. I use Vionate in my feeder gut-load.

what about T-Rex leopard gecko dust? Is that a good multivitamin to use when dusting crickets and other insects?

Thanks.

Looks like ICB, is the T-rex leopard gecko dust. So, I will quit using it.

Thanks.

I have been using ICB with my dragons for a few years from juvinile to adult and have seen great results. I personal do not trust rep-cal's calcium(I like their herptivite) beacause it is oystershell which has heavy metals such as mercury and led. I doubt they get it from a good source beacause just look at the ingredients in their food line! Just my opinion.

I have been keeping leopard geckos since 2003, so i dont have as much experience as some of the other members on this forum. The only thing i can say is that I have been using t-rex's leopard gecko dust the whole time without any problems. When I started breeding leopard geckos I added plain calcium, with no d-3. I put the calcium in a small dish and keep it in the enclosure at all times. I use leopard gecko dust from t-rex in my meal worm dishes. I buy my calcium in bulk from a farm supply store. It is mostly ground up limestone. I pay about $5 for 5lbs and that will last me all year. I also raise my own meal worms and feed them powdered milk, wheat, oranges, and carrots. I think the best way to get vitamins to your gecko is directly through its food. But thats just my opinion.
