I was wondering from the different dark eyed morphs aka eclipse, SS eyes, and blizzards. What are the differences?
Like I heard that in one of the eyes you can/cannot see the pupil but in the others you can/cannot? Just want to clarify this for future reference.
I know that SS will always be solid while the others can be partial/snake eyed so no need to get into that.

Well,I have a blizzard male with solid black eyes, but you can still faintly see the pupil.so blizzards pupil can be seen.I believe ss pupils can't be seen.

The best way to tell if it is an Eclipse is to look at the nose, in addition to the black eyes the Eclipse gene always presents with a white nose. A speckled tail is also common, but can be masked by other genes, but the white nose is always there.

I'm not aware of any visual markers for a het Eclipse. Ron Tremper often points to a speckled tail as a marker, but it is such a variable trait that I would not consider it to be definitive.

Ok because I have a Mack Tremper poss het Eclipse so it would be good if I knew if it was het Eclipse. But I will test breed.

speckles on the underside of the tail are always indicative of the animal being het eclipse... just a good way to make sure your poss het eclipse are het or not.

Their undersides are clear as well. I'm not saying it absolutely is not a marker, just not something that is consistent enough to really rely on in my opinion. Hopefully Kristi sees this thread, she works with a lot of Eclipses and may be able to shed some light on the matter.

Ok, yeah I'm hoping mine is het Eclipse and he doesn't have speckles under the tail.

I've had many het eclipses with no tail speckles. My eclipses don't always have speckled tails either, so I really don't look at that as a deciding factor. Hope that helps. :)
