Some general questions I've been wondering about.

Figured I might as well just go thru the list, so here's the background info. Leonidas was purchased at ******** on Feb. 15th (my hubby thought it'd be a cool idea for a V-day present). He settled in fairly nicely but has been skiddish, but that's to be expected. But it's to the point of try to bite. Loki was purchased about a week later on Feb. 21st as a surprise. My hubby thought Leonidas looked lonely. lol. So we put Loki in Leo's cage, because he/she was housed with about 10 others. Loki wasn't even in 5 minutes before Leo tried to strike him/her. Luckily we had an extra cage from that we used before we upgraded our scorpion's home. So Loki settled in pretty quick. But ever since then Leonidas has just been itching to get at him. Due to the lack of space at the moment, I have to keep both cages next to each other. Leonidas is determined to attack Loki. He/she has even gone as far as ramming the side of the cage trying to get to him/her.

So here are my questions...

Can anyone tell me about how old they are? I know they're young, but how young?

Regarding the attitude problems with Leonidas, is there anything I can do to break him/her of the habit? With the biting and just being all around grr.

Go figure, those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

Well-I bought a leo on Feb. 20. from Pet$mart and he is about 1 month old-you can see a pic/video here:

But I would say he is about a month old (if he looks similiar to that one)

You are supposed to let them get settled into their new habitat for 2-3 days before handling them-but try just putting your hand in the cage for a few mins. each day just so he gets associated with it. After 4 days or so, i guess try holding it again.

As far as the age goes pets_mart usually sells them at around 1-2 months old. I would also suggest putting a piece of cardboard or something between the two cages because it sounds like Leonidas is getting stressed by the fact that he can see another gecko. This may also help the behavioral stuff but it will also take time for it to settle in. Trying just putting your hand in its cage for short periods to let it get used to you can your smell. Babies scare easily and it sounds like his behavior is do to the fact that he is scared. Take your time and handle him slowly.

Yeah, I'll have to try that instead of the white computer paper I've been using. He/she even gets a little skiddish when he/she sees their reflection in the glass. But go figure, I've had Loki for an even shorter span of time, and he/she doesn't act like that at all.
