Some Leopard Geckos just calm/lazy by nature?

My female, approx 9 mo old, Leopard Gecko is very laid back and almost lazy! haha

I know they are nocturnal, but even at night I see her often just laying around. She does come out of her rock hide and lay out in the open, often awake and looking around - sometimes sleeping. But she just lays there. I don't see her climbing very often at all...mostly just going back and forth between her rock hide and her moist hide, and her bathroom spot.

She also has slowed down on her eating. Is that normal too from what I read? She used to eat around 10 mealworms a night, now we put in 10 mealworms and she eats them over about 3-4 days?

Thanks!!!

yeah some are pretty lazy, in the day my guy sleeps in a coconut shell and at night he rests ontop on the coconut shell, so he hardly needs to move at at all lol

Have you try other food items, e.g. crickets or roaches, or even just put in more mealworms? I think you should turn up the heat to 92-93F (ground temp) on one end; also, its good to gutload their food more frequently, don't just leave the mealworms in there until they turn into beetles. :)

They are lazy by nature. You don't see them climbing because they don't, they are ground creatures. As for the worms, depending on how big the gecko is thats about normal. Sometimes my guys will eat 10 one night, and not eat again for 3 or 4 days. They are just like that. Just make sure she is still eating.

Yea it definitely takes a couple weeks for the mealworm to turn into a beetle. As mentioned above, check your temps and offer other items. Three weeks would have me, personally, worried that my guy isn't munchin', but that is just me.

And as for the thread....

I only own four geckos, and I do say only - especially on this site!, Two/Four geckos are laaaazzzy. They will lay on my belly if i let them.

Most of mine are fairly lazy.. I have a few that are quite excitable.. but in general they lay around and sleep all day and then just relax and move around a bit at night..

as far as not eating.. I have a male that hadn't eaten more than one or two mealies for over 5-6 weeks.. because he was in mating mode.. now he's gorging and gaining his weight and size back quickly..

Now his son who replaced him in the mating has stopped eating for about a week now and I'm assuming i'm going to go through the same worry with him but he's fat to begin with so i'm not really worried too much..
