Here are some updated photos of "Evrae" from Jess (Fallen Angel Geckos). We got a breeding pair from her project and this is the male. We are so grateful for her to letting both him and Lillith (LBS het raptor) come here. Their first babies here just hatched and we're smitten with them!

Evrae was having a lot of problems eating, we resorted to feeding slurry quite a few times when we couldn't get him interested. It may have been enigma stubborness (though he only has very mild enigma syndrome) or just a change of environment that threw him off. We were really distressed with his decision to go on a lengthy fast. Finally, we stopped babying him. Told him to suck it up and eat out of a dish like everyone else :main_laugh:
In all my past experience, the best way to feed was with a large shallow dish so the geckos can see the worms clearly, get into it to chomp it down. So we threw some waxworms, some mealworms and some superworms together for variation and he's been eating like a pro ever since. He isn't really picky, and eats what he catches, providing his aim, so we've been mixing in a few waxies in every meal.

He's gained all his weight back and actually is starting to look tubby in the middle. Without further ado...here are the pictures.

It's great to know he's being a HEFTY eater and to see him gaining weight! He brumated for quite some time over the winter and was not gaining weight as quickly like the others. I think the move may have been a shock to him, so it's just that much better that he's turned around finally! He looks GREAT, wonderful job!! He is a possible Giant.. so if he was 70-some grams before, he very well may get over 100.. here's hoping :D Thanks for posting!!

Great Looking guy you have there.

I have his little brother Odin. He just came off a hunger strike last week. He has not been eating very well for the last couple months. Most of my males eat less during breeding season anyway. Odin lost 11 grams. Hes eating like a pig now. Maybe thats why your male wasnt eating. He might of had more important things on his mind.:D

Jess - If he can get to 100, I'll be over the moon lol. The weight don't matter none to him when he's getting it on with the ladies though. Being slight never stopped him from completing his job, but I think the added weight has given him a bit more confidence ;)

Tanggecko - Your Odin has been producing some nice babies too, I see. Can't believe how much Odin and Evrae look alike! I was thinking perhaps it was due to the breeding season, but he's still breeding now, and he's chomping down the food.

Odin and Evrae were the only two that looked like that (lighter in color), all their other siblings were dark orange. I always liked them the most  although I haven't had the pleasure of seeing any updates of the others.
