Something I dont understand

Well Ive read the rules about personal attacks and such on a company. I can understand that fact of not bashing a company about saying blank this and blank this what a blankity blank company. Although we can talk about breeders and use the trading system and say well basically anything bad about them if reason to. So what I dont understand is why we cant leave feedback about a compay who does treat its animals bady. Why should they be left untouched for poor treatment on animals when we can say things about breeders. I know that most of the places are chain companys so not all are the same but isnt it more of helpful thing if we know what we are dealing with in a certain company. Shouldnt we know what to look out for with that certain company so if someone had a bad experience with a certain compay others can be more aware of what to watch out for when they visit their local chain of that company?

The rules are no different regarding chain stores or hobby breeders....we can't say anything bad about anyone on the forums. As far as the chain stores....you can NOT compare an experience in one store to an entire chain...the policies may be the same...but they are not generally bad policies.....most of the bad experiences you're going to have are going to be related to the specific employees in that specific location. You really can't put every store on the same level based on your experiences in any individual or even group of stores.

Well see thats the strange thing about the trader rating you can leave negative feedback to a breeder if you had a bad experirence with them. Well lets be honest the breeder is going to want to know why he or she got negative feedback and the breeder is going to get the person from the transaction to say bad things about them.

Quite honestly, you can do anything you want so long as you are willing to face the consequences. And you can say anything you want about a company or breeder, so long as you don't say it on these particular forums. The people who this forum belongs to ask you explicitly not to comment about other companies or breeders, simply because they don't want to get caught up in any legal implications. I believe you should respect their request. After all, you're their guest here. :main_yes:

The problem is when people say, chainstore A is bad, people see that, and so they assume all of chainstore A is bad, which as stated earlier is not the case. If someone in a place like Home Depot was a jerk to you, would you never go to another HD again? Probably not you would probably just complain about the employee to a manager, so why should a petstore be any different? That's what people need to realize about chain petstores, it's not the company's fault it's the specific employees. All I can say is over half of my animals have been purchased through chain petstores and all are very healthy, just as healthy as if I went through a breeder.

GeckoForums.net does not have an attorney to defend us against libel lawsuits. We have rules, and the TOS are pretty clear about posting anything that pertains to a company or breeder's business practices or ethics.

Some companies and breeders suck. Their business practices and ethics are what the majority of us might consider to be sub-standard. But, when we post comments that are derogatory or even a simple negative opinion, we are leaving ourselves wide open for a lawsuit for slander and/or libel. We just can't go there.

We agree that businesses and breeders like this deserve to get bad rep, but it just isn't worth getting GeckoForums.net shut down or a lawsuit. It's just best to describe these companies as, "Big Chain Pet Store" when discussing these topics on a public forum.
