I was wondering, how many watts you guys are running in your reptile rooms? Do you use any special wiring for the rooms? Put them on their own breaker? Higher guage wiring? Please let me know, I get scared of electricity lol

I only have a few reptiles, probably wont keep more than a few lizards/frogs/snakes ect. so the only thing i would think fitting would be central wiring on setups fed into battery backup surge protectors similar to those used for computers.

I run quite a few racks on a standard breaker in my basement(reptile room)

once I sell all my hatchlings this year, I will be filthy rich and build a better one:main_laugh: :main_laugh:

-----Joke over-----

I just use the regular wireing and breakers but have all my lights and heaters on power strips with battery back up. But then again I only have 3 tanks.

Breeders with a lot of electrical cords should have a licensed electrical contractor come out and inspect. Then you will know if you are safe or not! When mine came over he said to hold the cords periodically to see if any of them are getting hot. If they are you have a problem and need to unplug that unit immediately!

Another good idea is to have a fire extinguisher handy.

i suggest you purchase or borrow an amp meter , pull an outlet out of the wall and see how many amps you are drawing with everything running. if its close to 15 you have a problem. also i would replace my outlets with gfci outlets so if their is a short it will automatically cut off the power.
