First of all, I hope that these pictures don't look as washed out on everyone's screen as they look on my laptop...

This is Spock, my new breeder male for my melanistic and hyper-melanistic project. Again, these photos do this guy no justice at all. He is a dark brown color with black spots. Not a light olive like he looks in these photos. ((Guess who needs to learn how to use her camera?))

By the way, he isn't missing a toe... It's just hiding. ;)

Spock is very crazy and hyper. He knocked over his mealworm dish and was rolling himself in it for a little bit. Like mice and rats do in their wheels... It was honestly something I could not stop laughing about. I'll try to get a picture of it for sure.

Funny thing is that I was told Spock was going to be a girl, but it ended up being a mistake. Did I care at all? Noooo! He is so gorgeous in person and will make excellent babies.

I'll probably be picking up his female(or females) next month. Still, his hyper active personality is convincing me to get him a 20L and just get him one girl to put in the 10 gal.

More pictures are definitely coming of this guy, especially after his next shed.

the flash lightens base color unless the flash comp is reduced to just above ambient light ...... end lighting lesson.

Don't worry , he should calm down in a few days.

Very nice! I was at one of those PET......... places tonight and they had a gecko looking like your image does. At $120.. I walked away :)

I actually stop in that store weekly and help them with the reptiles that come in under par. I got a sweet bell eating and growing for the one girl who adopted it last week!

Yeah, at where I work this guy would have been $90.

However, I got Spock for $25 at the PDX Metro reptile expo earlier today (forgot to name drop Cascade Herps earlier, people should definitely check them out). Definitely a sweet deal for such an awesome looking gecko.

I actually like his hyper-ness, it gives him a lot of character. :)

So taking the photo without flash would be better? For some reason my camera becomes unfocused when I don't use flash.

Use direct window lighting and no flash.... that usually does the job unless it's a strong sunny day which kills contrast.

Mine does the same exact thing. Try messing around with the settings. I got mine to work semi decently.

;) Yes, I do happen to know.

He will be seven months old in two days exactly. Weight however I can't remember off the top of my head, it's in the 50 gram range, however.

Still looking for a female at this time. I'm hoping I'll have some luck at either an expo that is happening next month, or randomly stumbling across one.

My only trouble is that I need to find a female that is as dark or darker than him. Plus finding one of a greater age and weight would be a plus.

But yeah, still searching!

Yeah, definitely not easy to find. But certainly well worth it when they are found.

Even if it is impossible to find a female dark enough at the moment, I have no issues with breeding the perfect one from him and another female. This will be a line-bred project for the most part in the beginning, so I'll expect it to take some time. ;) That is unless I manage to get one of those miracle baby geckos that ends up being /exactly/ how I want it. But I seriously doubt that for the first few times around.
