Hello all

So my silly Toon has gotten where she will only eat if I feed her with tweezers. Is this normal? She will eat crickets (usually 3 or 4 every 2 to 3 days or so) if they happen to walk in front of her face; she doesn't seem to hunt them anymore. She also doesn't give a damn about her mealies anymore so I'm completely removing the dish from her tank.

She does, however, seem to love her dubias, but I have to use tweezers and wiggle them around near her face because she no longer hunts those either. Also, I have to do it during the day when she's drowsy. I'll lift the top off her moist hide where she usually sleeps until night (it's one of those Exo Terra snake cave things) and feed her while she's in there. If I try to feed her at night after she wakes up, it's almost like she's too distracted. The only thing she cares about at night is climbing around and getting on my hand to be held. :main_rolleyes:

So what's up with my Toony girl?

Complacency, spoiled princess yes.

If you leave a bowl of mealworms out all the time and stop the tong feeding she'll come around when she gets hungry. Just be sure to switch out the mealworms every evening so they don't die and shrivel.

My first leo was spoiled, would only eat when food was dropped in front of it. It was too time consuming for me so I switched to the bowl. After a few days he came around when he got hungry.

We did the same thing with one of ours. He was so lazy. The only time he would eat is if we would dangle the cricket tube right in front of his face and he would stick his face in and grab them as they fell out. (lol) We just stopped doing that altogether and put a mealworm bowl in there. When he took the hint and started eating those we started dropping crickets in there and now he chases those things around like he's a T-Rex or something. lol
