Ok i am thinking about building a second floor to my tank. I thought I could maybe silicone some fiber class covered in repti-carpet to the glass in the back of my tank. Will the silicone be ok or will it let off fumes when it gets hotter? If thats not a good idea what could I use to stick it to my glass tank? Also is fiber class a good idea to use if I cover it in the carpet? thanks

The silicone would be fine. It's what they use to put aquariums together, anyway.

The only problem is that siliconing anything to the tank will mak it pretty permanent...

Aquarium Sealant is probably the best for permanent attachments, but you do need to allow it (or any other silicone-based product) to *fully* cure before you let your leo loose. Silicone does off-gas for a while and the fumes irritate me (a 6'2 190 lb mammal) so I'd wager they're not good for a 6" < 100g leo.

For temporary or movable/removable stuff I'd suggest Legos or little wooden boards/dowels (I used balsa plywood from a craft store in my tank, with a layer of saran wrap under the carpet as a barrier against poo soaking through and making the wood smell).
Legos can also make great staircases to get to the second level.

I made a terrible design mistake with my second level - I glued down the repti-carpet on one part of it, so if my leo ever "misses" and poos there cleanup is going to be a major pain. I'm not very smart sometimes - don't be like me. Don't permanently attach your repti-carpet :)

felt works too, just my 2 cents...i use that for the ramp for my upper levels in both tanks, it provides enough grip and they dont snag toes or anything:D

Not to hijack too much but I'm curious how you attached the felt so it doesn't move around - Is it weighted under something or suction-cupped in place like repti-hammocks?

(I've been thinking of adding a sling/hammock kinda thing to my second level but I'm not sure how to attach it so it would be stable)

I just used my subtrane (coco nut shavings about 1/4"X1/4") and made it into a bit of a ramp but my guys like to climb everything even try to climb the glass(idiots)

Well i have a ramp made from a scrap of wood and the felt is hot-glued to it, the second level itself is made from plastic with a towel covering it. this is probably very confusing but i'm at work and cant post pics, i'll do it when i get home...:D
