started scraping off dead skin and there was blood

in my last thread, there was a picture of my leopard geckos head with weird looking skin. I gave him a bath and the skin started coming off and it was kind of like shed, but when it was still intact, it didn't look like stuck shed. I started scraping it off carefully and when I was done, the black spot skin looked kind of red and there were red spots around the big red spot. I changed the substrate to dish ro ll to be safe. Whenever I scratch the weird looking skin, tiny flakes come off. I'll try to get a picture in.

It's really hard to even see it in a picture. Almost impossible to diagnose over the Internet. If it seems to be getting worse then you need to go have a reptile vet look at it. What's your substrate?

They really should be on tile or paper towel. Other options would be excavator clay or reptile carpet but the top choices are tiles or paper towels.

It might have been shed skin that irritated his skin from being on too long
But i agree with wicked gecko you might want to just go straight to the vet

I'm going to provide a different perspective here. It may have been from a bad shed. Going to a vet is never a bad idea, but I don't necessarily jump to it for everything. Leopard geckos tend to heal really well from minor injuries. I once had two males escape from their tubs (a family member was watching them while I was out of town and didn't secure them right) and fight. One of them had several wounds (clearly the loser of this fight). I kept him on paper towels and sanitized his tub daily with isopropyl alcohol. He healed wonderfully and has no evidence of that fight to this day. Now, keep in mind that I was watching and was willing to take him if needed. If I started to see any signs of infection (swelling, redness, or puss) or if he changed his eating habits, I would have taken him in. But with the right care and sanitary techniques, I don't really think there's a reason to run to the vet for every little thing.

So, my advice is a little difference. My advice would be to keep it clean (I used sterile saline to wash and just a tiny bit neosporin with no pain killers), keep his enclosure clean (daily sanitation with vinegar or alcohol), and keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, off the vet. If not, it will likely heal just fine by itself.

I keep my gecko on paper towel. I asked a reptile store for advice, they just said to use polysporin or something similar and keep it clean , it will heal. I think it is an abrasion or something.

I originally kept him on reptile carpet. Yesterday, he wouldn't eat crickets today in the morning, so I bought him 2 hornworms and a butterworm that he gobbled up. He onlt has this small abrasion that is not bleeding anymore, so he probably is okay.

Glad to hear that sachen. Should be good to go hopefully. I just meant if it continued to get worse to have it checked. Pictures are hard to tell sometimes.

Ya, the pictures have a glare which make it hard to see clearly. Do you guys think he will heal? Do I need to use polysporin or neosporyin? If I do, can I just use an antibiotic cream that the doctor prescribed me when I had a blister?

Can I use a fucidin ointment topical ointment? If I get polysprin or neosporin, which one should I get and which product in particular?

In Neon Aura's post she mentioned using the saline solution to clean it and neosporin without pain killer in it when her Leo needed attention. I'd probably try that first. I'm honestly not sure what fucidin ointment is so I'm not much help. Sorry. Maybe others will have more knowledge about it than I do.
