Hello guys,

I am just starting in leos and is planning for my first male purchase. I am not new with animal but reptiles this will be my first.

I want an advise on which morphs to start with. Based on my early research, I am listing these few as candidates;

1. Tremper albino - Ive read many said this morph as an excellent albino to start breeding with other morphs.

2. SHTCT - due to its affordability and popularity

3. Tremper Albino Patternless Het Ember - Male - 21g (USD180), & Mack Snow Blazing Blizzard Het Diablo Blanco - Male - 25g (USD250) - these were offered to me, how good is they to start especially with my intention to breed to learn about morphs & mutations?

Of course, if there are better more affordable choice please let me know, my research is only at early stage so I still have a lot of advise to begin.

Particularly, I really like the Diablo Blanco and to some lesser extent, the JBR Glow, but they are out of my reach at these moment.

Please advise, thanks! :)

You might not get the answers you may want to hear. I also dont understand why everyone wants to breed leopard geckos before they know if they are capable of caring for one, but that is good that your researching, and I hope you continue to do so that way you will be prepred to breed in the future. If you want to make diablo blancos then I sugguest you get a pair or what is your budget?? Also you ask for advice for the morphs may I know the purpose you have as in why you are breeding leos? To get a further understanding and so I can help you better. As for your candidates it seems like they are kinda over priced, and if they are the geckos pictured on your post then it seems that one has a kinked tail which isn't the best canidate for breeding I think.

^^^^If affordability is a main concern for you I would rethink breeding. It takes a bit of start up money and of course you'll have to feed all those mouths once they hatch.

I'm considering trying my hand at breeding (on a very small scale) next year but only if I feel I'm ready and finances allow for it. Don't get caught with animals you can't take care of.

Hi,

As i have said, I am not new to animal and i have been breading other species before, and the reason i want to breed (small scale) is out of my interest in producing good specimen because im a technical person. I simply like it for no other reasons, if i sell my animals which the ones i dont keep are normally for 2 reasons; I dont have commitment to keep them (space, time etc) and to fund for other breeding project.

As for the leos, I am deciding for the right morphs to start. I like Diablo Blanco very much, but here in my country it is difficult to find and very expensive. You can already guess from the price of the 2 I posted before :).

Would it be advisable to produce my own Diablo from the scratch? Or other morphs like Dreamsickle perhaps. This is where I need your advise (appreciate it). Or any other morphs that is popular/high end? I want to start the right way.

p/s: is this a good female (Jungle Tremper Albino PureBred)?

If you want to start breeding, you should already know what morphs bred together will give you what. I'd say do your research a little more and definitely make sure you have all the right equipment and space to breed.

Starting from scratch would take atleast a few seasons before you even see a diablo blanco and you would have a lot of hatchlings that you would need to work with and care for. If you are looking to produce diablo blancos then I'd suggest just buying a diablo blanco pair.

Like stated earlier - reasearch as much as you can. with the right amount of research you shouldnt need to ask which morph to breed, you will know which morph you want to breed.

I would check this link out - http://www.leopardgeckowiki.com/index.php?title=Category:Morphs
Look through there and use this forum to figure out what you want to breed. Figure out what you want to produce, not what other people tell you to produce. Thats no fun :)
