stays in humid hide

My gecko just shed 2 days ago and she never leaves the humid hide. I checked her out to see if there was stuck skin but she got everything off herself. I took the humid hide out yesterday to change the paper towels and she went in her cave and just stared at me.

Could she just be ovulating?

she could be ovulating ( which you could check to see if she is ) or the temp in her humid hide could be her ideal temperature. leos tend to try and keep their body temperature at around 84- 86 degrees F. If she is ovulating that wouldn't necessarily mean she would stay in her humid hide.

I have one gecko who goes in cycles...for a few weeks, she'll only stay in her moist hide, and then for a few weeks she only stays in her dry warm hide.

Yes, she may be ovulating, but i think its normal for her to stay in her moist hide for long periods of time.

I recently adopted a female. The past owner told me he had never given her a humid hide and she did fine without it. None the less the first thing I did when I got her was to give her a humid hide.

She loves it and rarely leaves it during the day.

One of my females loves her humid hide. I don't really spray/mist the paper towel now unless I see she's about to shed. I also moved it more in the warm side of her tank. She just likes that hide.

What are signs of ovulating? And what are signs that a gravid Leo may do before laying eggs?

My female is ovulating based on her stomach and she refused to eat tonight. Now she is staying in her moist/ humid hide. Could be her lay box as well. Coco fiber about an inch thick and my ziplock box is probably 12 inches long.

Wow! This is an old thread! (over 2 years ago)
If your leo is ovulating you should be able to see the ovulations by looking at her belly (little white circles with a red outline) In most cases you will see more than one.
Loss of appetite could be a sign as well but refusing food for one night could just mean she's not hungry.
As far as spending alot of time in the humid hide/lay box, I would not consider this on its own a sign of ovulation.
Now if you see eggs in her belly and she is spending alot of time in the lay box digging I would say eggs are on the way.
