Hey guys, I've been less active because of school, but I got en email the other day from Reptiles Magazine notifying me that i've won the steppe runner raffle. I tried to read as many care sheets as I could, but the only complete one is the one made by reptilechannel.com (Reptiles Magazine website), which isn't always accurate. It's going to be my first diurnal pet that needs UV, so would it be fine to get a reptiglo 5.0 and a 50w basking bulb? It needs temps to be anywhere from low to high 90's.

I use the Zoomed Powersun mercury vapor bulb for my tortoise and uro, which provides heat and UV light. They're expensive, but a lot of people on tortoiseforum.org highly recommend MVBs, which is good enough for me. DO NOT use coil UV bulbs. They produce UV unevenly, and the "hotspots" that result can cause blindness in reptiles. I don't know about steppe runners specifically, but I've seen them for sale at Petsmart so they may have care info on their website. I know, not the most reliable source, but it's a start.

I'm on a tight budget, so I guess i'll be getting two different bulbs, I'm getting exo terra bulbs, should be fine. It was 20 people out of 4,000! I'm surprised I won, I'll be getting it in a couple weeks.

That's so cool! How's it going with them so far? I kind of want to get a couple but I'm not sure because I haven't been able to find much information.

I don't know if it's just mine, but mine's super skittish, itll sometimes dash off once you get in the room, or too close to the tank.
They're all so docile and calm on youtube videos ):
