WHAT THA HECK?! I got my shtct out the other day & noticed she had a sticky tail, not the whole thing but half way down all the way to the tip. I thought she might had just dragged her tail through some poo. But her tail has stayed like this for about a week. When I looked at it again tonight it was bleeding & was still sticky & is now crusty. I have never heard of anything like this & Ive never seen it & I have no clue what to do. I am giving her a warm soak right now & I will put some neosporian on the bleeding spots & sperate her from her tank mate.

ANY help would be apprciated!! :help:

Sounds to me like she might have had the tail bitten or some shed left on the bottom of it, Seperation is a good idea, and the baths and neosprin will help, use a wet cotten bud to cleanse the area.

Ok, thanks. I dont think tghey would have had a fight, they never have & they always like sleeping together. Anyways, it not just the tip of her tail.

if this were her tail, the arrows mark where the bleeding is

After I gave her a warm bath, the sticky part of her tail had turned to pruny kind of looking skin. I touched it & it rubbed off, so I thought maybe it was just old shed, I peeled a little off & there was a little blood underneth. I didn't think it was a good idea if it made more bleeding spots so I quit & just but neosporian on the bleeding areas. She is in her own tank with a heating pad & on paper towels.

Should I keep the towels wet so it will stay humid? & if so, all of it, or just half the tank?

If you have a extra humid hide you can put that in thier for her I would not wet down the towels if you have another humid hide put that in thier for her. :)

Yeah I agree with Holly, Add a humid hide, but theres no need to make the whole enclosure humid, it would be too much, it will most likely fix itself by next shed.

Don't be fooled, I had 2 geckos together for ages and one attacked the other out of the blue the other week.
If you do decide to re introduce them after your injured one is better, keep a very close eye, if you suspect anything, seperate them immediately.

It sounds to me like she just had a rough time shedding. I agree that you should add another moist hide for a while. I would seperate them too, at least until things improve. When you put them back together pay close attention to the way they act toward one another. Try to get a pic if you can. That might help better determine what it could be.

Ok, Ive had her seperate from her tank mate for 2 or 3 days now. I have her on paper towels & keeping it dry, also I have been cleaning the bleeding spots with peroxide & keeping it covered with triple antibiotic.

The bleeding has stopped & is looking better, but her tail is still sticky. Its the sticky part thats just confusing me, but oh well, at least its stopped bleeding.

I cant get pics until I get my camera, which is at my Mom's house at the moment. But I might not even need to take pics if it keeps healing like it is. I will try to keep you guys updated. Thanks for all the suggestions.

a while back 1 of mine got stuck shed on its tail it shrivled up and dropped of and it looked really horrible there was a little ball of hard skin and it looked like u could see bones in it well she shed a few weeks back and it started to bleed i got some zoo med healing aid but as soon as i put it on she was dragging her tail around to get it off. now its scabbed up and a few days ago the scab fell off and its looks as good as new ive named her stumpy as she's not got a tip any more and i was just wonderin will it regenerate??

anyway the point im making is i wouldnt stress and just let it sort it self out i was worried sick that it was going to get infected but it looks great now and i didnt do anything to it. it just sorted it self out

Usually a dropped tail will regenerate.

& you dont have to explain, what Im doing with my girl's tail seems to be helping.

Any part of a tail that has been dropped, whole thing, middle, or the tip will regenerate.

I would actually have taken that bunched skin off, that sounds like stuck shed and it may not be too soon to save the tail. Also, just to help clarify dropped tail is any tail that is lost due to (fights, shed, alarm, etc.). Curious me, what are you getting at with the coco fiber and water soak? If it's to remove the shed, just some luke warm water works well.

I have soaked her pleanty of times & it just stays sticky.

thegeckoguy23 told me it in chat & I told him to post it on here, but he didn't say it like he said it to me. He said it like this:

Put wet coco fiber on her tail, then put her in warm water & the sticky stuff will come off.

I dont really get it either but hey, if it works I will try it, but it sound kinda like the whole "rub some dirt on it" thing. I dont know weather its valid or not. I just dont know...

No offense but you should start your own thread & supply pictures. You would get better help than asking people in another thread about something different than your geckos problem.
