Still not eating

Hey guys. You may remember my other thread about my leo possibly being sick. Well for the past few days, my leo still isn't eating BUT she drinking just fine, is moving around when she needs to, etc. What's odd is when I offer her a waxworm or mealworm, she usually acts as though its not even there. Like she doesn't even see it. Other times she'll completely turn her head away like she's repulsed by the idea of food. It's almost like she's afraid of it. Again, she was eating like a vacuum until last sunday. Also she keeps her eyes squinted a LOT even when moving around unless something bothers her. Could she possibly have an eye infection? :main_huh:

As an aside, she is still nice and fat (for her age/size) and doesn't seem to be loosing any weight. Nice fat tail. She's drinking fine but she just will not eat for anything. Even waxies.

Update: She just went into her freshly misted humid hide and is drinking the water as I type. I just don't get why she'll drink just fine and has no problem finding it but she she either doesn't notice or seems repulsed by food.

Well besides the tank lights, do you have the room light on or something? Because when I have my room light on, I have to angle myself so I'm shading my leo. Otherwise, she'll close her eyes because it's too bright, even if it doesn't seem that bright haha

Well there's the natural light during the day but at night nothing other than the TV. And she never had an issue with this before that. Just one day she shed and then never wanted to touch food again.

Have u tried to feed crickets? I had fed my Leo crickets and mealworms for a while and all of a sudden she got to where she would not touch worms for nothing. Walks around the feeding dish to get to water, but I can drop crickets in there and she tears them up.

I haven't tried crickets yet (and I'd rather avoid dealing them if possible). I'll give them a whirl if I have to but it seems odd that she turns her head away or ignores even Waxworms completely.

I'm starting to wonder if she just has an eye infection. I've noticed that one of her eyes is almost always squinted. I tried to feed her a waxworm last night and it almost seemed to scare her (she usually pounds them down) so I'm wondering if she's got an infection in one eye and it's freaking her out so she won't eat. She's still drinking like she should be.

If this just happened since her last shed a short time ago, maybe her eye still has a bit of skin stuck in it. All it takes is a little bit of shed to cause them irritation, but it does take more time for an infection to form if the shed is not removed. Any lights would be an irritant and cause squinting or keeping the eye closed. Try giving her a warm soak in a lidded plastic container so steam will help moisturize her eye, then look carefully at it to see if there is anything at all stuck. It may be difficult to see it, but you should be able to work it out gently with a moist q-tip while it's softened up. If you have any plain saline, it can be used safely on the q-tip and even in the eye if the shed is stubborn. Warm water is also fine. Do not use any other eye drops unless your vet recommends it.

She doesn't have any shed in her eye. I've been giving her soaks (like I usually do right before and after she sheds). Her eyes appear completely clear and healthy. Just the left one stays closed more than the other. I just tossed in a few crickets like someone suggested but she still doesn't seem interested. She just moves out of their way.
