I'm still pretty new to leos. I've only had mine for about two weeks now and he's alittle over a month old. I've noticed that he sometimes gets quite fidgety sometimes. Every few days he will be up and quite active and roam around his tank. The rest of the time he hides in his moist hide or warm side cave. On the days that he is very active, he wants out of cage, so i'll take him and he explores everything on my bed, and doesnt like to be touched or picked up, and thrashes if i pick him up. On the days where he's more lazy, he doesnt mind being held or picked up.

it just seemed strange to me. Any theories?

Yea that's normal for younger geckos. Just keep working with him about 15 minutes a day and soon he will become tame.:main_thumbsup:

Mine are usually the same. Sleep all day then after sunset when it's darker they pace around their cages, claw at the glass and look at me expectantly. A routine roam outside the tanks calms them down. :)

thanks. Yeah, when he wants out of his tank, he claws at the glass for a few minutes and then goes to another spot and tries to get out there. silly gecko.

We got our tangerine boy named Mr.T at 2 months old and he would not come out of his hide for anything. So we would just scare crickets into his hide and then you would hear him strike and they would either come running out or not. We didn't really get a good look at him until he was 6-7 months old when he was getting too big to hunt in his hide. Now at a year old he perks up when we come in the room ,starts digging looking for worms and is pretty comfortable around us. So in my experience they all have thier own personalities and they all have thier personal quirks but the younger they are the more likely they are to get used to you. There's one we got as a 3 year old that seems pretty set in his (wild)ways. :main_laugh: Even he has made some progress though. I should've known when I asked if he was friendly and the breeder started laughing:main_laugh:
Good luck with him :)
