Strange colors on the tail

Just to clear things off first;
I'm currently in a sort of difficult situation, and my animals have been placed with a friend who lives 1 hour away from me. I have not seen the gecko myself yet since I just got the message today about the condition it's in.

I was told about this forum, and thought maybe you guys would know whats up with my gecko. I'm going to take it to the veterinarian, but I can't until Monday.

Appearantly my gecko has been shedding awfully a lot over the couple months, around 2-3 times a month. She's in otherwise good condition, eats well and looks healthy.
But there's something wrong with her tail.

It started as a tiny weird dot of skin that was slightly discolored. I saw this myself, I was visiting and helped her with getting some stuck skin off. (she has a moist box) I was puzzled on why she struggled with getting her skin off, and when I saw the hard "dot" on her skin, I understood why she was shedding so much.
The dot came off easy, so I just took it off without problems and placed her back in her cage. This was about 3-maybe 4 weeks ago. And I haven't heard anything until now.

The message said that the tail had gotten worse, and it seems like it's spredding.
I know just as much as what the picture she sent me shows, so here it is:

What could it possibly be? I'm thinking some sort of bacterial infection, but how the hell did she get that? She lives alone, there's no sharp corners or things she could hurt her tail at, my friend is almost religiously careful with keeping their cages clean so it can't possibly be from something like that either. And I only currently feed them dubia roaches, and they are never let alone in the cage for a while, they are being handfed to the geckos.

I'm gonna bring her home tomorrow so I can take a closer look at her. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is there anything I should do, like try to clean the area with Chlorhexidine? Any input will be highly appreciated!

Definitely need a vet!!!!!!! Everything needs to be kept clean and for any gecko undergoing an issue, I strongly recommend using paper towel substrate and in the moist hide too.

She is on paper towels, but I'll change to paper in the moist hide too.
And taking her to the vet on Monday. The vet in my area who knows reptiles doesn't work on friday or the weekend. :/
