Strange Movement...sneezing?

Hey guys. So I was watching my leo this morning as he went about his business of going from one side of the tank to the other. He came out of his hot hide and did something I've never seen before. He kind of raised his head up and opened his mouth then lowered it and shook his head vigorously for a second. Was this a sneeze or something. He's on repticarpet so I know he didn't have sand in his mouth or something. Any idea what this is?

Do you feed him on the carpet? Could be the fibers he picked up from a mealtime or licking moisture. What morph?

The morph is just regular or high yellow. He eats out of his dish but has only had one worm since I brought him home wednesday night so I don't think that's it.

Maybe just a weird yawn. I honestly don't know. But if it only happened that one time I don't think it would be anything to be concerned about. Unfortunately I don't really have an explanation for you. Sorry...

I'm thinking maybe your gecko wants to regurgitate. Right before they regurgitate, they do open their mouths wide and then shake their head vigorously.

Wonder why he would do that since he hasn't eaten anything in the past 2 days.

Sounds a bit like a yawn, or a regurge. I've seen a gecko yawn, they sort of shake their head, just a quick sort twitch though afterwards not a vigorous shake.

Yeah unfortunately I think I'm going to have to swap this guy out at Petco today. This morning he was still trying to regulate and he hasn't eaten anything. He ate a worm his first day and did throw that back up so I'm guessing he's either impacted or has a parasites. :(

Well i wouldn't jump to conclusions like that he may still be settling in, or have some sort of stressor, but if you feel more comfortable getting a swap then go ahead, but who knows how many gecko's you could go through before finding a perfect one from Petco.

To start I'm going with a different petco. The other ones in this batch at that store were all so anorexic I wouldn't be surprised if they all had parasites and/or impaction.

Sorry for being random here, but why did you get a gecko there if they all looked extremely skinny?

This was the one that looked healthy. Obviously I was wrong. Without going with a breeder, you gotta go with what they got at the petstore. Luckily I found another petco near me so I'll see if these look better kept.
