Sorry new to Geckos and this forum, please be gentle.
I have a male leo (approx 6 mths old) and a female leo (approx 4-5 mths old), they are both kept in the same vivarium (the ground temp on the hot side is 36c (95f I think) the centre of the tank is 35 and the cool end is 25 - 30. I have a UTH that covers 1/2 of the tank and a 60w spot bulb to provide light.12 hour cycle and a moonlight bulb for nocturnal viewing) When cleaning them out last night I noticed something strange attached to my Male leo's poop although it had the normal urates attached. It is about 1 inch in diamater and is almost heart shaped with 2 indentations and a ridge through the middle (will try to post a pic later) it is off white in colour. Now the male is 62 grams and I have noticed that he is not eating much at the moment however will snap up a waxworm if offered. the male has just gotten over a prolapse (recovered about a week ago) and is being treated for worms along with the female. The Female is eating fine. They were previously on sand but now on paper towel as per the vets recommendations.

Could anyone advise what this strange object could be?

Without a pic, it's hard to say what it could be. Are you sure it came from the male? It sounds like an egg slug. It could also be undigested waxworms if that's all he's eating.

Those are two egg slugs. (I don't think they came from your male!)

Thanx - I have a moist hide with Moss inside, however these were in the hide on the cool side. Will I have to provide another box for the female to lay in?

I agree. Your geckos are not old enough to breed and start producing eggs. You should house them seperately until the female is a minimum of 8-9 months old and around 50 grams.

Thanx for the advice, very appreciated. The age was a guess I know the male is 62 grams I will weigh the female tonight. We ended up with a male and female by accident we thought they were 2 females until we saw them "fighting". We haven't got the room to house separately. The guy at the local reptile shop said they would be ok together. :(

Is there anything else we can do?

nothing except seperate them unless you want that female to get pregnant, which could cause serious problems for her if she is not proper age and weight!

Thanx, Have to take them both to the Vet anyway for a checkup so will ask the Vet an idea of their ages in the mean time will try to clear enough space to seperate them.

Hate to say this, but if she mated, you are getting more eggs until she stops laying. Seperating them is best obviously, but that won't stop her from lay more if he body say she will.

Honestly, if you can afford a vet, you can afford a 10 gallon tank and a heat pad with a small container with a hole as a hide. The total cost would be $30- 40 :)

How large (size) is your viv? You want to make sure they each have enough room (approx 12" x 12"). If it is big enough, you could divide it with some sort of board or plastic. Do a search on here for creative divider ideas.

Your UTH sounds like it is large enough to place in the middle (under the divider, so it will heat half for each side. The middle will the "hot side" & the end will be the "cool side"). Also, the high temp should be about 31c-33c (88f-92f) and cool side 23c-26c (75f-80f).

Thanks the viv is 24" Long by 12 Wide, so I should be able to divide, I also have a dish in the viv at all times with calcium + Mineral powder.

The thought of dividing the viv never even crossed my mind.
