One of my young ones has a stuck piece of Shed on his head?? I've been spraying him and his moist hide daily. This shed has been there for a couple of days now. Am I doing the right thing? Should I leave him alone? Is the moisture good, or would the shed come off sooner if I let him dry out a bit?

I barely knew that he was in shed, he looks so bright anyway. I was really suprized to see he had shed.

I just want to reach in and pick that piece of shed off, but I don't think that's the right thing to do.

There's a couple things you can do... you can soak him in a warm bath and rub the stuck shed with a wet qtip (cotton bud) until the shed comes off (and it eventually will), or if you're uncomfortable with that you can use a qtip or your finger to lightly apply a thin coat of mineral oil to the stuck shed to keep it moist until the leo either rubs it off himself or his next shed which should take it off with the new shed. Personally I usually soak and qtip stuck shed off but any time eros had stuck shed on his head I would mist the tank (not him as it usually freaks them out) soak his moist hide and by the morning he's worked it out. Make sure you have something rough in the tank he can rub on like a length of bark or a big rock or piece of driftwood. This rubbing will also assist him with sheds.

ah..ok. I think I will try to put some mineral oil on him. and I'll have to add something for him to scratch on. Right now his cage is pretty bare.

I was afraid of stressing him out so I've just been misting, he has a humid hide but he prefers his darker cave.

Last night I stuck the little guy into a humid hide for 5 minutes while I got a q-tip ready. When I got back and rubbed it a little bit, it came off right away.

freaked out for no reason.

oh well

I figured it would come off pretty easy. Head skin o's one of the thinnest spots if skin and usually comes off pretty easily.
