Am I correct that Mack Snow is a co dominant trait??

And is jungle a co dominant trait, recessive, or linebred?

Thanks!

Yes, Mack Snow is a co-dominant trait. As far as the jungle gene, I think the jury is still out on that. Some feel the jungle gene is recessive, although not a simple recessive like albinos, pattys, and blizzards.

This is what I've heard. Jungle is line bred, and is a pretty stable trait, so if you breed a jungle to a non-jungle, it's not going to ruin the trait in one out-cross That's why some people think it acts like a het trait (which it does). However, if you let the trait go for awhile, and stop breeding for the jungle pattern, the pattern will diminish, just like you easily see with the reverse stripe pattern. Where as a non line bred trait, if het in an animal, will stay strong, through crossing with other animals.

Hope that makes sense! :D Just my thought on it. :)

I personally don't feel that jungle is a line bred trait, or at least doesn't act like one at this point.. RT talked about proving it out as recessive after 5 generations..

My jungles came from a mother who showed no jungle traits, and a full Tremper Albino.. So it's either an anomaly with them or it's recessive in my opinion.. I'll know more next season when I breed the offspring out and see what comes up..

Thanks, everyone, for the input.

Michael, I will be looking forward to hear what you find with next season's babies!
