Why do petstores refridgerate their mealies? Is there a certain reason? Do they last longer? When I buy my mealies, do I HAVE to refridgerate the container? They seem to be doing fine in room temperatures. Sorry for the dumb question

as cricket said mealworms (not supers) go almost dormant at fridge temps. Supers will croak they are a different creature...

If you get more than your leo can eat in a couple weeks (depending on size of the mealie), they may moprh into beetles before you can feed them off. Refrigerating will stop this. But make sure you take them out of the fridge once a week to warm up and gutload.
