Hey everybody! I have been reading on here that people use Styrofoam to model some great-looking habitats. I want to try that as well. I'd like to know how to prepare it to put it in the vivariums. All help is appreciated! Thanks! :main_thumbsup:

I've done 4 projects so far (3 for snakes and 1 for leopard gecko) like this and am preparing to attempt a background wall like this for all of my tanks (3 snakes/2 leos).
I coated it with grout and then used acrylic paint and then several coats of acrylic sealer. All of the foam I used so far has been free, the grout was leftover from a bathroom remodel. The paint was either stuff I had on hand or bought at wal-mart (a small bottle is around a dollar and goes a long way. The sealer I got for $8 at home depot for a small can. I will get a big can next, it is a teal wrapper, was kind of hard to find at first. I did lots of coats of sealer on mine and it went a pretty long way. There is a really good website for this, you should be able to find it somewhere in this forum or I can dig it up.

I spent a few hours today watching their videos, its a great idea I'm definitely looking into making several. I was thinking the simple basic castle one could actually be modified into making a 3-n-1 hide and you could even add a moist side.
