Hi, i'm pretty new to keeping reptiles, and i was wondering what the best substrate to use is? I ealize everyine will have their own opinion, so i wouold also like to know why people prefer the substrate they use.
Also i was wondering what plants might be appropriate to keep with a gecko?

here your going to get lots of different opinions but I prefer ceramic tile. lots use paper towels, repti carpet. I like the tiles because to me it looks natural and holds heat very well from the (uth) under tank heater. I don't personally care for the repti carpet because my leos seemed to get there claws stuck in it all the time.

now as far as plants go I use a cactus and a suction cup type plant in my terrariums they look nice I think.

I have about 75% of natural looking stone tiles in my tank, about 20% Calci-Sand in the part that I planted some cactus and 5% with cocofiber in the corner where his humid hide resides... although I am planning to "eradicate" the sand completely due to the fact that he LOVES to dig out and make holes in the sand which as you may imagine it creates a mess in the tank... :main_angry:
