hey everyone,

I have my meal worms in a container with oat bran, as well as some carrots and apples. Is oat bran a good substrate for meal worms? Do they maybe need more moisture?

Let me know what you think.

Your setup sounds good. I wouldn't add any more moisture, the fruit/veggie bits are sufficient, and too much moisture will lead to mold.

use carrots and sweet potatoes every once in a while for food. I have also started using water crystal sprinkled across the top once a week. These are first laid out on either packing paper or paper towels to drain off excess moisture as to stop mold from forming. The oat bran or rolled oats are perfect for bedding or even a combination of both.

thanks everyone! I wondered, because the worms don't seem to be moving around much. I thought they might be dying or maybe their container was too dry? But I'll keep doing what I'm doing and see what happens!
