I have not yet purchased a gecko I'm reading as much as I can first before diving into owning reptiles. I would really like my tank to look super natural looking as possible dessert like and I know sand is a big no no and as a newbie I do not want to even attempt it. I stumble upon exo terra exclavator clay on the vid it seemed hard and not loose any feedback/review on this type of substrate

on my list/ideas
exo terra med/low or large/low 24x18x12 and 36x18x12 I believe
under the tank heater with a thermostat
hybrid: half tile half repti carpet I'm going green repti carpet and sand like colored tiles
moist hide and 2 other hides moss in moist hide 3 dishes 1 food 1 water 1 calcium
I have a dessert poster in the back
2 mini lights 1 red 1 blue
digital thermometer

anything else I'm missing ?

I don't know about the clay, sorry. But I do know you need to get a vitamin supplement that includes vitamin A. Also, you need two kinds of calcium- one with D3 to dust on the food several times a week, and calcium without d3 to leave in the tank at all times. And you will need a dimmer for the uth. Other thank that, I think you're set :) unless I too am forgetting something

I recommend Repashy Calcium Plus. I dust everything with it. For young geckos and breeding females I also offer a dish of pure Ca without D3 - I use Repcal without D3 for this :) Everything else sounds great! Sorry I don't know anything about the clay either.

Well u don't need the 2 mini lights, it could just be an electric bill raise up for no reason. And I use Repashy for geckos. Its a all in one. Cheap price but awesome, and I don't have to leave calcium in the tank. Just dust EVERY feeding with this and, tile is good but repti carpet my opinion I don't like because the geckos finger nails can get caught

Nd I thought about the clay too. But if u see videos or actually test it out your, the geckos nails and feet with start to turn it to little sand which is always a big NO NO! On sand.
