Alright... ive been using repticarpet and all the crickets keep getting under it and what not... all in all long story cut short i hate it.

So i was wondering. Is there and known safe loose substrate? like eco earth(cocoa fiber) is that digestable? and if it is could i plant a desert plant in it? im looking for something that i can give him a better looking more realistic environment. Tile and slate is out of the question. Please help

try newspaper or paper towel. that seems to work fine. just cut it so it fits perfectly in the tank, im agaist loose substrate so thats my oppinion. but that would work.

I use a solid piece of brown paper lawn bag (with an extra strip in her poop area, which I replace daily). I put a thin strip of clear tape along the edges to keep bugs from getting under there. It works very nice and looks more natural than paper towel and newspaper. Here's a pic ;) I tried reptile carpet when I first got my leo and her toes kept getting stuck on it. Good luck!

Paladingirl, that's an awesome idea idk why more people don't use that. And the tape; brilliant xD I used to pull my hair out trying to think of ways to keep crickets out from under my paper towels before I switched to tiles xD
