Suddenly aggressive?

Hello.

I bought my gecko at the Reptile Super Show on June 30th. He has never tried to bite and has been very calm whenever I gave him food or water. His previous breeders said he is very docile and is one of their favorites for that reason.

However, on July 6th - till now, he has been aggressive, lunging at me with his mouth open whenever I look at him or take care of him.

Does anyone know why he had a sudden personality change?

That's interesting. I've had LEO's and Fatties in the past and none have ever tried to bite unlike my Tokay's.

was he getting ready to shed or anything? my gecko hates to be handled when she is abouts to shed, even when she hasnt turned that white yet.

^ agree. when they get ready to shed they can be very aggressive. but you mention he was lunging. your gecko may of just been excited for food. mine do that off and on. sometimes when i sit in front of my tank to get ready for feeding they immadietly come out the hide and start going crazy. especially my bell female, sometimes she will lunge at any shadow she sees when she knows im about to feed. they act like they havent eaten in months sometimes lol

Haha. Too funny. Great thread.

My Annie acts like I haven't seen or fed her in months as well.

I just got my Gecko over a week ago and I think she may be getting ready to shed because she seems "pale" but my question is this. Do the cloudy eyes come before or after the fading skin? And what other behaviors are a sign of shed other than aggression?

Leopard gecko's eyes don't shed, so they shouldn't have cloudy eyes at any time. If you gecko has cloudy eyes, you need to check if there are debris in the eye, or if there is an eye infection.
