I'm looking to buy my first leopard sometime soon, but can't decide on what kind. I know ill be using a 20long, and want to hold two female. Would this be big enough?

Anyways, I'm looking fof a morph. I want something nice and not the status quo, but don't want to pay a leg for it, so suggest me something :)

Also, is buying leos off of the web safe? It seems kind of scary, considering its a live animal and all. Is there anybody on these forums who sells?

Any input is appreciated, thanks :)

I suggest going to a show to see what catches your eye. If you see some morph you like you can shop around for one at the price you can afford. You will get a lot of suggestions because everybody likes something different. Another important question is do you want these just as pets, or as future breeders? That can make a difference in what people suggest. As far as buying on the internet, it is fairly safe. The best bet is to check out i trader ratings if it is somebody on the forum. If you buy online from somebody who is not local you need to factor shipping costs into the price of the animal. Depending on how far away it's usually $35-$50 extra for shipping. You can also check with a breeder to see if they will be coming to a local show where you can pick up an animal you purchased online. Also, if you purchase something from different breeders who are close to each other they may be willing to ship both animals in one box saving you some money. We have done that before for a customer as well.

Everyone will have a different opinion on what morph they like. I suggest looking through some of the sponsored sites and see what catches your eye. Going to a show is a great idea also if you have one around your area. Then you can see them in person. good luck! Leos are addicting! lol

Im Faster,
You have some beautiful animals. I have my eye on your Super Hypo Tangerine Female

I'm actually thinking about getting a male and a female to breed. Is breeding diffucult? is there anywhere for info on it, and what would be a good starter breeder? Something that is decent pricing and i can sell the babies for a decent price.

I would suggest just getting one as a pet to really get the hang of taking care of them (they are relatively easy but still take some work) before you think of breeding. Reasearch breeding in the meantime so you know everything you need to. You can always get a male or female when your ready to breed. good luck!

OK. If you are thinking of breeding in the future, and you like albinos you have a couple options. First things first, decide what you want your end result to be. For instance, which albino strain do you like the most? Do you like bright color or bold pattern more? Take a look at what it is you need to make that final animal. Then look at the pricing of the animals you would need to create it. Can you afford the animals needed to make it in the first generation or second generation, etc...?

Here's an example. I had an adult breeding trio for sale. I put the trio together specifically to give somebody a chance to make several different types of animals, but kept the albino strain the same. It was a jungle tremper male, mack tremper het raptor female, and a hypo snow. That trio made several different combinations possible. You could get trempers poss het raptors, snow trempers poss het raptors, snows het trempers, normals het trempers. Really there was a possibility for about 12 different outcomes, all with a potential for a varied pattern since the boy was a jungle.

Also, if you are going to contact a breeder online let them know a dollar amount you are able to spend along with the type of animal you are looking for. For some people a couple hundred dollars is reasonable, but for others anything over $50 is unreasonable. Sometimes breeders have animals available that are not posted on the website, as space is limited.

Also, decide on what age of animal you want. Do you want an adult which has a set appearance or a baby that you can watch change as it grows? Believe me, some babies can change a lot. Red stripes are a perfect example. You hardly ever know how that animal will look as an adult when it first pops out of the egg.

Don't forget that if you are going to breed you need more money. If you incubate wrong and get all males then you need a different cage for each. That means about ten cages. Ten lights. Ten uth. Ten water bowls. Ten calcium bowls. Ten food dishes. Fifty to one hundred mealworms every other day. And on top of that, research your local laws. Government taxes everything. New businesses go under in the first year without proper funding. Research your true demand for them and don't plan on making a lot of money or even breaking even. This hobby is rarely a lucerative business. The people making money through selling hatchlings have been doing this a long time. I don't mean to rag, but you should know what you are getting into. This is my thousand dollar per year hobby.

I really don't want to start a business  just sell to people...

As mentioned above somebody had a trio, do breeders sell some like this? Also I have access to what I would need. I want younger ones to watch grow then maturity breed them. I like the blizarrd ones, buy I also like the hypo ones... how much should I spend on them, and is there any tips for me when I go to look at show

If you want a good breeding pack I suggest pacificgecko. They have an add I'm the classifieds at the top of the screen. $200 shipped I believe it said. Just keep track of expenses so you don't make too much more than you spent when breeding.

Don't forget that if you are going to breed you need more money.

I agree with your point, that you're going to need a lot of money. However, what you are giving examples seems like a lot of money but you can use everyday items for it.

If you are going to breed geckos you'll more than likely have to get/build a rack system. Plan on spending about $250+ for building, and even more for buying.

If you incubate wrong and get all males then you need a different cage for each.

As long as you know the incubation process and precautions you will probably not make this mistake.

That means about ten cages.

True, depending on how many males you have and if you make the incubation mistake. Leos can lay up to 22 eggs (highest I've seen) a season.

Ten lights.

If you have them in a rack or have a UTH, you don't need a light.

Or heat tape, which is cheaper.

Ten water bowls.

Yes but you could use any tupperware you have laying around.

Ten calcium bowls. Ten food dishes.

You can use gatorade caps or tupperwares.

But yes, plan on spending a lot of money.
