Suggested Digital Thermometers

I've heard mention of digital thermometers that record a low and high temp. Does anyone recommend a certain type and/or know where they can be purchased?

As always, thanks bunches! :D

Thanks! I'll have to look for one of those.

I bought some digital thermometers for some of my tanks, and found that there was quite a descrepancy between them and my temp gun. Therefore I'm looking for a new brand. I just remembered seeing them mentioned in the incubation section because of the high and low readings.

I've got one made by Fluker's. The only downfall to mine is that it doesn't have a probe. So I just place it directly in my "dummy" deli cup in the bator. It also has a hydrometer, so I know what the humidity is, as well.

Mari, have you found it to be accurate? I never would have thought about using a probeless thermometer, but it's not a bad idea.

The reason I use a probe thermometer is because you can place the probe at the direct spot you want o find the temp of and you dont have to keep disturbing the geckos by grabbing their hides and pulling the thermometer out.

Jasen, using a probeless thermometer in an incubator is a cool idea.

I'm looking for the most accurate thermometer I can find. I have three ESU probed thermometers and my temp gun says there are off by anywhere between 1-5 degrees F.

So what does everyone use in the incubators [as those would likely be the most accurate thermometers people can find]?

Im not disagreeing with you about the probeless thermometer, but what are the advantages of having one in the incubator instead of one with a probe. Also, I was talking about using a probe thermometer in a tank, not the incubator. Since I just got my incubator, I would love to hear what I should use in it!

wow!!!!!!!! I am using ESU dig with probe right now. Probly the same model. Could there be a chance your temp gun is off? Just an idea to throw out there.

I sure hope not, but I'd think that the $20 temp gun would be more accurate than the $6 thermometer. But I guess it could be off.

And Jasen, I too am wondering what people use in their incubators. I haven't ordered one of my own, but I've been considering it. Therefore I thought I'd find out what type of thermometer I should order as well. And the advantage to the probeless would be the lack of wires I suppose.

The wires wouldnt really bother me. The thermometer with a probe would be useful because it reads humidity, probe temp, and the temp where the digital thermometer unit is.

I have yet to buy a temp gun, but before I put eggs in the bators I put a couple of different dummy cups with other thermometers just to see if they were all close (as well as the thermo that came with the Hovabators on the bottom of the bator as backup). All of the thermos were within a .5 degree of each other......if that helps at all.

What thermometers do you use Mari? Does it have a probe or is it probeless. How long do you test the temps for?
