Here is the first Supergiant that hatched last year.

It was born on 27 June 2008

Parents are Dad - Supergiant Designer het albino

Mum - Supergiant High Yellow Jungle

both parents brought directly from Ron Tremper in 2007.

Beautiful gecko! I guess I'm still skeptical about the whole giant-super giant stuff, but nonetheless, a very beautiful gecko :main_yes:

very pretty. I have a 6 month old male that was hatched august 30th 2008 and he is weighing in at 60 grams and his clutch mate was hatched on August 31st and weighs in at 59 grams, what makes a gecko considered a giant?

One off spring of my giant is 4 months old and weighing 59 grams. i think alot of it has to do with the length....not positive but thats what I have read.

people seem to be judging the giant / super giant issue purely on weight, which although is an indicator it is not the only indicator.
lets be truthful you get heavy people that does not make them giants after all

all of our supergiants have 2 supergiant parents,
we currently have 3 male supergiants - all purchased directly from Mr Ron Tremper
and we have 3 female supergiants - 1 was purchased from Mr Tremper and the other 2 are ones we bred ourselves
we also have 3 giant females, their parents were
dad supergaint and mums were normal sized murphy patternless

we only classify our geckos as giants if they have one of our supergiants as a parent
or a supergiant if they have 2 supergiant parents
(all our SG have either Ron Tremper numbers or our own numbers - if we bred them ourselves)

hope that all makes sense. please pm me or contact me through our site www.bigyellowgecko.com if we can be of any further help.

thank you for your time

OK, I think all geckos are nice...So nice looking gecko.
But with all your comments of where the Super Giants came from
how about a little decription on the size of a Giant or super giant.
There has to be a reason to call them such. Length over X inches,
weight over XXX grams, combo of XXX weight and X length.
I'm assuming that the parents have listed sizes and the off spring
do too. Can you fill me in a little on the specifics?
Thanks. Take care. HJ

Sorry for the delay in replying to the thread.

The main differences between a giant and supergiant is that a giant will reach between 80-100grams (Male) 60-90grams (Female) by a year of age, whilst a supergiant will exceed these weights.

Both male and female supergiants should be over 11 inches before they are a year of age. The supergiants are significantly longer than normal sized geckos when hatched.

Unfortunately you can not see how long this gecko is from the picture. We do hope to put some more pictures of her on here later.

Hope that helps.
