Im feeding my leo superworms. He loves them and devours 2-3 every other day. I use to buy them in 10s but now I bought a 30 pack and need to clean out the superworm hut as I call it and refresh their food so they dont squirm around in their own excrement.
My question is, what is a good substrate for them? Anybody have a good healthy mix of foods they place in there that will make them great vessels of foods for my Leo?

I use cornmeal (baking isle at wal*mart) and wheat bran (lg bag purchased in bulk at tractor supply store). Carrot for moisture and dusted with a good vitamin powder. :main_yes:

I use Pro GutLoad from Pro Geckos for all my feeders, works great and they really seem to like it. As for water I use water crystals in a dish thats just higher than the substrate and they climb in just fine.

Chicken layer! Any feed or grain store should work, just look for the 16% protein ones that are unmedicated. It has a much higher protein percentage causing slightly faster growth, and healthier worms. Not to mention because of the extra calcium, I would feel no need to dust. After that all you need is a carrot or patato.

Is chicken layer similar to chicken scratch?

No, it's typically in crumble or mash form and looks like a mixture of grains, cornmeal, fishmeal, corn, and many more things. Scratch is just a mixture of seeds, corn, and grain. Which would probably work fine but feeding layer mash would significantly increase the nutritional level.
