Since I live in Florida, and I have a new found love of reptiles, I've been considering doing some field herping out near where I live (Canaveral National Sea Shore and a few other areas). I was just wondering, what kind of basic supplies I should carry with me for a full day outting?

I did this in college and it was pretty cool. Your supplies depend upon the biome you will be exploring. I think you will be in a forest area so I would take a hat to keep out ticks, shirt you don't care about, long pants, and some thick worker gloves that can withstand a nail puncture. The gloves are so you can pull the bark away from trees and look for coral snakes. Boots aren't a neccessity in this area but if you go into the desert areas of Florida I say they are a must have. Believe it or not there are a lot of long spine cacti out there and they hurt bad. My best advice is to go to an army/navy surplus and by some military boots and pants for cheap. Also don't forget water and a light snack. Let me know if you interested in non-lethal trap building or other herp locating techniques.

maybe a snake hook and snake tongs they are great for looking through leaf litter with out putting your hands in harms way (snakes hiding). A nice back pack would be good... and maybe a camera!
